Family Paint master class

dear friends! I’ve prepared a master-class «Little Monsters’ Garden» for the upcoming Tel Aviv event «Family Paint» 30/9-3/10 — where you can make your own creatures from old book papers and parts of my paintings. Hope to see you there — with kids!

Playing with painted stones

Sometimes I make games and toys for my girls. I like to give them some «tools with no rules» and to see what kind of games they create themselves. A few days ago we collected together little stones on the beach, and I painted on them faces, houses, fruits, flowers, etc. It took me two evenings. Today, while we were in a coffee shop I presented the girls a tin jar with these stones:

First, they spread them on the table, to observe all the pieces:

then distributed the stones into a different groups:

Screen printing

Recently for the first time me and my friend Nir tried to print on t-shirts at Baalei haMelacha. Five hours to learn all the process from the beginning and to print. It seems long, but it was hardly enough.

these are the t-shirts I made for the whole family:

and me, printing:

the ink pad shop

I was recently in New York, and if you happen to be there, I’d like to recommend you a cool shop: The Ink Pad. It’s a little shop at Chelsea, full of wooden stamps and vintage stickers.

Prague Toy Museum

I’m back from Prague. A lot of beer, unhealthy food, lot of waking, talking with friends (Russians, Israeli and German meet in Prague, sounds like a beginning of a joke :), thoughts and inspiration. I won’t be original to say, that I was extrimely inspired by the collection of vintage toys at Prague Toy Museum. I don’t know what is it about these old tin and wooden creatures, funny and scary at the same time, that make me want to draw. Some subtle facial expressions, probably.
Here are some of hundreds of photos I made there:

another sketchbook

I have to count once, how many sketchbooks do I already have, because people keep asking me. I answer «a lot». I guess, around 25-30. Every sketchbook is really different, some are old are from the art academy, some — from travel, from work, and they contain all the interesting things I can find and stick or draw. I carry my sketchbook everywhere with me and really feel it is kind of my «home», my private space, where I can hide while drawing. So, I invite you to see my inspiration, sketches and the way of thinking.

My Secret Face

Last year my friend, industrial designer Inbal Musai and me created a jewelery brand «MySecretFace». The idea was to make something partly hidden, therefore more private and personal (hm, I see I deal a lot with «secrets» recently…) Inbal created beautiful shapes from porcelain, and I made illustrations for them:

Stamp for Karin

I made this sketch for a stone stamp for my dear friend Karin, who came from Germany to meet me in China. Karin liked it. The artisan who curved, was a bit stressed when he saw that we want not a usual «Your name in English and Chinese, ready in 5 minutes!», but finally, did a great job.

I made a cover for my mobile phone with a face of one of my characters, printed on fabric. The red chicken was given to me as a birthday present, I like it a lot. I also like to take pictures of myself with stupid toys and serious face, it somehow reminds me my pictures…
